"Act as if it were impossible to fail.” --Dorthea Brande
In life we are fortunate enough to be acquainted with extraordinary people. We socialize and watch each other thrive, not knowing exactly where that growth will take any of us. I believe that the universe aligns circumstances specifically for us to adopt our positions in life. As we move from situation to situation, we have no idea the impact that we will have on our peers or greater than that, the world. This dialogue is indeed a personal pleasure for me. Eddie is a product of Mississippi, not just any part, but my hometown of Greenwood, Mississippi. He and I go way back, as he was a grade under me in high school. I am grateful to have been granted the opportunity to dive head first into the mind of Eddie D. Love, CPC, who recently released his debut as an author. Come with me as I travel the mental highway of Eddie's road to prosperity. I hope this interview is influential as you gain an understanding of who Eddie is, where he comes from, what he stands for and where he's headed.
Tell me a little about yourself and your background?
Eddie: I was born in Chicago, moved to Atlanta when I was young, then Mississippi. Today, I live in Charlotte, North Carolina and I’m married to my best friend, Shapera. We have a beautiful daughter named Kylyn and a dog named Chelsea. I work full-time for a global telecommunications company and I’m also a Certified Professional Life Coach, Motivational Speaker, Trainer, and President & Founder of HAWU, LLC.
When did you decide to become a writer?
Eddie: I’ve always had a passion for words, whether communicated orally or written. I really started taking my writing serious when my daughter was born in 2012. I started a relationship blog in January 2013 and I considered it to be my warm-up before game time.
Why did you choose this route?
Eddie: If you take a look at what’s happening in society today, there are no role models for our youth. I’m not going to place the blame on the Baby Boomers or Generation X; however, someone has to take the lead and help guide the Millennials. This is the reason I have chosen this route.
So, what have you written?
Eddie: I recently self-published my first book in July 2015 called, "Escape from Poverty: 28 Ways to Win at Life". I currently host a relationship blog called www.docfreshlove.wordpress.com. I have published a couple of business articles on LinkedIn, “How To Get Promoted” and “How Your Environment Influences Your Perception”. I was also a contributing writer in BEpic magazine’s October 2013 issue with, “How To Get The Perfect Woman”.
What inspired you to write Escape From Poverty: 28 Ways To Win At Life?
Eddie:I wanted the world to hear my story and be inspired, especially young black males.
If this book is part of a series, tell us a little about it?
Eddie: No, it’s not part of a series, but I am planning a documentary for it. The documentary will discuss the challenges that black males face in America with emphasis on black males in Chicago, Atlanta, and Mississippi.
Where can we buy or see them?
Eddie: My website www.hawulife.com has links to all my publications and social media; it’s also the best way to contact me. You can also find "Escape from Poverty: 28 Ways to Win at Life" on Amazon.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Eddie: There is no need to be embarrassed about where you come from, own who you are.
What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
Eddie: To always be thinking about what happens next. Ask yourself these questions: What happens after you finish the book? What happens after your next blog post? What are you going to do with your fan base? Writers should always be thinking about their next move.
Any tips on what to do and what not to do?
Eddie: I only have a tip for what not to do and that’s don’t listen to the dream killers because they’re everywhere.
Is there anything else you would like to add that I haven’t included?
Eddie: The only thing I want to add is that I’m honored to take part in this project with you, Treka. I’m excited about your future and I can’t wait to read this article when it’s released, thank you and God bless!
It was an absolute honor and privilege to be the first to interview such an amazing person. "Escape from Poverty: 28 Ways to Win at Life" is an intellectual piece, which vividly saunters us through the life of a poverty-stricken African-American boy, with the unwavering determination to be an affluent man. Mr. Love was kind enough to allow his personal story to aid in the revival of a broken culture, written off as a failure. His book is a statement of encouragement for anyone needing to comprehend that personal desires and dreams are endless, if only you first believe in yourself. Once you get your copy of his book, you'll understand how he arrived at such a flourishing position in life. I have great faith that this is merely the beginning of great things to come for Eddie. Please use the links above to support the movement to an inescapable transformation for our culture and country.
